A stunning wine, reaching superb levels of concentration, depth and length. The same grape blend of Rondinella, Molinara, Sangiovese and Corvina as the standard Amarone but longer oak maturation and older vines from carefully selected parcels.
The best grapes are hand picked and left to dry for 5 months. Skin contact fermentation lasts for 30 days. The wine is then aged in medium sized Slavonian oak barrels for two and a half years, followed by one year in bottle.
Tiny quantities available as production is small.
Reviews: Gold Medal Winner, International Wine Challenge 2006.
Ready to Drink? Not really as this wine will mature for years to come. However, use a decanter and allow the wine to breathe for a further hour or so. Sip slowly and enjoy it anyway!
Food and Wine Matches: Big Italian cheeses on ciabatta bread, fillet steak, anything really with a big flavour to match the intensity of this wine.
NB: Currently awaiting a new shipment, expected October/November and now taking forward orders for all those who wish to guarantee some stock.
