Cognac
Cognac, even the very word evokes warm cosy fires, after dinner glows, decadence. Cognac it is said is the queen of all brandies!
Based in the French, Charente-Maritime region, a grape based spirit based on the bland Folle Blanche and Ugni Blanc grape varieties.
The base wine is fermented, then distilled in copper distillation pots and then matured in French oak. The different styles are then down to each house's unique approach to ageing, time in wood, cut off points whilst distilling etc .
A superb drink.
