Piedmont Wines
Piedmont in north eastern Italy. This region is dominated by two black grape varieties, Nebbiolo and Barbera along with one main white from the Moscato grape. Nebbiolo makes the magnificently rich and dry Barolo as well the more elagnt Barbaresco. The Barbera has a greater yield but has also good potential.
The main estates that we promote here are the superb wines from the artisan producer Selezione Fontanafredda. From their lovely juicy Barbera d'Alba all the way up to their outstanding Barolo's, we love their wines! Also wines from Nicola Bergaglio and Giacomo Ascheri.
In addition we also list the excellent value for money wines from Casa Marteletti. Big bramble fruits and a classic dry finish, at under £20 ithey offer superb value.
