The Brolio estate is one of the area's most highly prized jewels and the Ricasoli family have been in residence since 1141. Their wines are arguably amongst the finest of their DOCG and with the winery having received substantial investment recently, the quality is set to rise further.

This wine is produced from estate grown grapes, normally picked during a two-week period that begins towards the end of September. When fermentation is over, the wine is transferred to small oak cask and into barriques where it ages for about 10 months. Then it is held in bottle for further maturation before release.

Wine Reviews: 5 Star Recommendation by Decanter Magazine August 2007.

Silver Medal Winner, Decanter Wine Awards 2008.

Ready to Drink? Yes and no. Whilst with decanting this superb wine is approachable, it could be matured further.

Food and Wine Matches: Linguine Vongole with extra garlic and a hint of chile.
