About the Estate: Ferruccio Lamborghini purchased the vineyard land near the beautiful Lake Trasimeno in Umbria in 1971. However it was only a few years ago that his daughter, Patrizia Lamborghini, turned the wine into a serious business, upgrading the facilities and hiring winemaker Riccardo Cotarella to take charge of production. A blend of Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo and Merlot. The fruit being macerated (left on its skins and bunches in tanks) before the main fermentation. Aged in large oak barrels for four months after its fermentation. The total production for this wine, the estate\'s entry level wine was and still is only 100,000 bottles for world consumption. Dark ruby, almost black, with full, plummy fruit aromas yet extremely earthy and rustic. Ready to Drink?: Yes. NB Whilst the wine is made for early consumption it is good enough to lay down for a few years too. Food and Wine Matches: Well an Umbrian favourite of ours is an omelette with grated fresh white truffles through it in character with this wine\'s rustic notes. Simplicity at its finest!
