France's other great grape based brandy spirit. Armagnac is based further south than Cognac, in the region of Gascony. The base wine is usually a blend of Ugni Blanc and Colombard. This wine is then distilled using copper distillation pots and into wood for maturation. The argument bewteen the the two great grape brandies as to which is better is an on going discussion and is purely down to personal taste. Armagnac is a great after dinner drink, "aiding one's digestion", perhaps even to be sipped whilst puffing away at your finest cigar.
