English Wines

Despite the UK being one of the world’s most wine loving countries, the wine industry never boomed as would logically be expected, with 99% of the wine consumed being imported. However, this is definitely a case of quality not quantity, we have a selection of some of the best English wines available. These include the unique and superb English sparkling wine of Breaky Bottom in Lewes, East Sussex and Carr Taylor wines also from East Sussex, both of these wines are evidence that the the south of England (not to rule out the north!) has a lot of potential. With the English summer becoming increasingly ideal for the vineyards we are hoping to see a more ‘local’ wine industry develop.

It is unlikely that UK wines will eclipse the imports in terms of popularity in the United Kingdom (this is also partly due to lack of supply for the high demand) but they are increasingly becoming more mature and complex, making them worthy to sample and a delight to drink.
