Pinot Grigio from Marlborough! This wine displays the hallmark characteristics of fine Pinot Grigio - a subtly infused pinkish tinge to the white gold hue and an aromatic, elegant nose reminiscent of peaches, green apples and floral hints. The palate is light in body and deiciously refreshing, with plenty of verve and character. White stone fruit flavours, a hint of tropical fruit and a honeyed texture follow through to a crisp, rounded finish. Pinot Grigio with character!
Some of the fruit was hand harvested and whole-cluster pressed with no skin contact. The balance of the fruit was machine harvested, pressed lightly. This juice was fermented in stainless steel at cool temperatures and using a selected yeast strain to promote the aromatic flavours.
The vines were pruned to two or four canes, with vertical shoot positioning. Balanced pruning, shoot thinning, tucking and trimming ensured favourable canopy conditions. Spring was cool and dry, with the summer and autumn cool and mainly dry. This ensured a long and favourable growing season, clean fruit and intense varietal character.
A good partner for dishes featuring mushrooms, such as quiches, but is also well matched to smoked salmon and light game meals.
