Benegas Lynch Meritage.

30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Cabernet Franc, 15% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot.

18 months in new French oak barrels and produced in tiny quantities. Roughly, there are about 100 cases left available for the 2002 vintage. The vines are reputed to be amongst the oldest in Argentina, over 100 years old.

The consultant wine maker is Michel Rolland of France and the wine was awarded, The Spurrier's Choice at a recent tasting.

Estimated ageing potential is put at somewhere between 20-30 years and has a keen cult following.

Ready to Drink? In a word no! This is perhaps a wine best for laying down as it is so rare that you should keep it, treasure it and then drink it.

Food and Wine Matches: Anything with strong flavours and good textures, beef is best here we think.
